The Salutation, Boutique Hotel & Gardens

Sandwich, United Kingdom

A short hop from the capital, a stone’s throw from the continent, we are situated just where we want to be. Ensconced within acres of award-winning gardens, the medieval town of Sandwich overbrimmed with history just beyond its old flint walls, The Salutation is at once a country retreat and a gateway to the vibrant and storied towns of the Kentish coast. Edwin Lutyens’ private-house masterpiece has been completely re-invigorated through successive restorations and now opens its doors as a luxury hotel, restaurant and gardens. Eat with us, drink with us, sleep with us. Stroll around our green paths and lose yourself in our herbaceous borders. Explore the area or never leave the grounds. Take Afternoon Tea on the terrace. Toast by the Drawing Room fire. Dine at the Chef’s Table. Wallow in Bed. Make yourself at home.
The Salutation Gardens are a plant lover’s paradise. Designed in 1912 by architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, the 3.7 acres are divided into a series of symmetrical “rooms”, each with a different purpose, gathered around a unifying theme.
The Salutation offers a wealth of dining options, from dawn ‘til dusk. With the North Wing opened up to accommodate our state of the art kitchen, and our dining rooms fully refurbished, there is now something for everyone at every time of day, all stemming from the same kitchen team and striving for the same sky-high standards.
