Named 2016 “Best Hotel (21 – 50 Rooms Category)” by the Scottish Golf Tourism Awards, the historic Ugadale Hotel is located just steps from the ocean and the 1st tee at Machrihanish Golf Club. The Ugadale Hotel features twenty-two spectacular guest rooms and suites, the Serenity Spa, and the Kintyre Restaurant + Bar, a warm and inviting atmosphere offering inspired dining and spirited good times. The Ugadale Hotel is surrounded by unparalleled natural beauty, with the grandeur of the Atlantic Ocean and the islands of the southern Hebrides right at your doorstep. Right next door, you’ll find The Ugadale Cottages, named ‘Hotel of the Year’ in the Small Hotel Category by Golf Tourism Scotland in 2010. These conveniently located 8 luxurious two-bedroom cottages provide a self-catering option with ensuite bathrooms, shared living space with fireplace and flat-screen TVs, and a modern kitchen, making them perfect for groups of golfers, families, and couples. The Royal Hotel in downtown Campbeltown overlooks picturesque Campbeltown Harbour and is the perfect option for those who prefer to be “in town”. The beautifully restored hotel features 23 guest rooms with all the modern comforts one might expect in the world’s top hotels. Here, you’ll find a second fine-dining restaurant, The Harbourview Grille, along with the cheerful and lively Black Sheep Pub just steps from the Harbour. For your convenience, shuttle service is provided between all of our hotels, restaurants, and amenities for Village guests.
Dunes: The 7,082 yard, 18-hole links course flows effortlessly to, from, and along the sea, inviting you to step back in time to the days when Old Tom Morris laid out the neighboring links and Willie Campbell plotted the Machrie Golf Links on the nearby island of Islay – visible from Machrihanish Dunes. The routing, as well as the positioning of its tees and greens, was dictated by the lay of the land – and the presence of several endangered species of flora and fauna.
The 18 hole Championship Course is set in the wonderful Machrihanish Dunes by the small village of Machrihanish. It’s a joy to play and most of the time very quiet, allowing the visitor to relish the ups and downs of the fairways and the tussle with undulating greens. The arresting views across to the islands of Islay, Jura and Gigha provide a delightful backdrop on an idyllic summer’s day with the firm Machrihanish turf underfoot, the majesty of the dunes, and wheeling seabirds providing the musical soundtrack.
