Scottish Castles Inspired Experience

This castle hath a pleasant seat; the air

Nimbly and sweetly
recommends itself

Unto our gentle senses.

MacBeth, Act I, Scene IV

Tis said a man’s home is his castle. Why can’t a castle be a man’s home, at least for his vacation? (Or a woman’s, for that matter?)

There is no doubt that many of us have dreamed of staying in a “real” castle in the Scottish highlands or on the edge of a loch in the Scottish countryside. Well dream no more, as Distincte is proud to present its very own collection of castles and stately homes all across Scotland. We have a portfolio of stunning properties that can be let, or rented, for short or long term vacation stays so whether for a party of two or a corporate, family or wedding group, Distincte can find a magnificent castle or a beautiful countryside estate home (or even a luxury intown apartment) suitable for king, queen or commoner who wants the very best.

Our portfolio of amazing properties includes fine private homes and castles offering luxurious accommodations in some of the most sought after locations such as Muirfield in East Lothian, St. Andrews in Fife, Carnoustie in Angus, the Scottish Highlands, near the Borders, on the Ayrshire coast near Royal Troon and Turnberry, and even a handful of luxury apartments in Edinburgh and North Berwick – just to name a few.

We can’t divulge here the names of the individual castles and great houses–the owners wish to protect their privacy, of course–but we can mention that many of our properties come with permanent full-time staff, butlers, maids, housekeepers and cooks, that will be at your beck and call during your stay. Some properties include helipads; arrangements for limousines and chauffeurs can also be easily arranged.

Many of these fine properties are located in extensive grounds and estates, some in the hundreds of acres. Stroll through the formal gardens, take a nature walk or bike ride around your estate, or sit and admire nature in all her glory from a private balcony. Of course, you may never want to leave the comfort of the library or drawing room, where a cheerful fire may be lit, and a warming glass of a fine single malt is ever at your side.

No matter where your private castle is located–near the sea, in the Highlands, lochside, or close to town–the staff will be ready and willing to help you choose activities to fill your day. Visit a nearby whiskey distillery. See the places where Scotland’s long and storied history comes alive. Set up an off-road driving experience in a Land Rover. Visit a local falconry school and learn about birds of prey. Get a tee time on the local course, even if it’s one the pros play during an Open Championship. Fly fish for salmon in the local loch or stream, or join a hunt for grouse, pheasant or other seasonal prey. All of Scotland is your playground, and coming home to your own private castle makes the experience all the sweeter.

Gilmerton House“Obviously, our properties are not for everyone,” said CEO Sean Winton, our native Scotsman. “But for those looking for the ultimate authentic experience for a family reunion, a special wedding or a corporate event meant to impress, we can fulfill the fantasy of living like royalty in the majesty of the Scottish countryside.”
